Meet the Founder

Emily Lyons founded Woof & Hoof Pet Service in the spring of 2016 — but that’s not where her story begins. As an animal lover and native of Dutchess County, Emily has never known life without pets. Growing up, she was an active member of the local 4-H program. During her years in this program, she gained extensive experience working with animals while owning, breeding, raising, and showing various animals and breeds of livestock, including horses, goats, sheep, and pigs. At a young age, Emily developed a strong love and appreciation for all animals and a special interest in their care.
 
During her adolescent years, Emily spent several summers attending the esteemed Field, Farm, and Clinic program at Cornell University. It was there that she gained a foundation of knowledge that she continues to build on today, including pet health and wellness expertise and animal husbandry skills. She first began pet-sitting part-time in high school and continued to do so throughout her college years, ultimately earning her degree in Research Psychology from Marist College.
 
An avid equestrian since the age of eight, Emily continued to pet-sit on the side while riding competitively, showing locally and on the "A" circuit. After graduation, she worked professionally in social services, human resources, marketing, and recruitment/training, but she never lost her passion for working with animals.
 
Woof & Hoof Pet Service was officially founded in April 2016. Since then, Emily has committed herself to providing a first-rate pet care service in the Hudson Valley. She prides herself on her intuition, communication skills, and professionalism — all of which she has perfected through her extensive work experience, education, and training. Emily’s dedication and reliability is unmatched as she helps pet owners give their animals the care, love, and attention they deserve.
